Top Florida Beaches

Siesta Key Beach

Located to the south of Sarasota, Siesta Key Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Florida. It is an 8-mile stretch known for its sugar-white sand, which is made up of 99% quartz, and its family-friendly amenities, including restrooms, picnic areas, and a large playground plus dining, shopping, and nighttime entertainment. If you have older children, you can rent a boat or kayak at Blind Pass Lagoon. There are plenty of free places to park in the area, but it can fill up quickly during the busy season. You should also know that it can be a bit of a walk from the parking area, so come prepared with a wagon or cart to transport your belongings.

Destin

Destin City is known for its white sandy beaches and emerald-hued water and is often referred to as "The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village." It has also been named the #2 best family beach vacation in the U.S. We recommend visiting Henderson Beach State Park, Miramar Beach, James Lee Beach, and Crab Island during your visit to Destin. Activities to do while you are visiting include:

  • A trip to the local water park or golf courses.
  • Renting a pontoon boat.
  • Taking a dolphin sightseeing tour.
  • Soaking up the sun while you lie on the beach.

If you're looking for some adventure, Destin is one of the best places in the state to go snorkeling. You can also charter a boat and see if you can catch a bite while deep-sea fishing.

Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach is not too far from Orlando and is also known as the space coast because it neighbors Cape Canaveral, which is home to Nasa, and you can see their rocket launches from Cocoa Beach. This is a popular beach for both families and surfers alike, with it's world-renowned waves. While you're here, you can visit the local Ron Jon surf shop, which is the largest surf shop in the world. Other activities to do include:

  • Deep-sea fishing
  • An eco-tour adventure on a kayak or airboat
  • Visiting the local museums and historical sites as well as shopping and golf

Santa Rosa Beach

Santa Rosa Beach may be a good option if you want to avoid the crowds of some of the more popular beaches while still enjoying prime shorelines, bright white sand, and beautiful emerald ocean waters. This 26-mile stretch along Florida's northwest coast features mouthwatering dining options, boutique shopping, and local art galleries. Santa Rosa also gives several different access points to Point Washington Start Forest, a 15,000-acre nature preserve.

Delray Beach

Delray Beach is the perfect spot for those who want the entertainment of a large city along with a friendly small-town atmosphere. You have the option of Delray's Municipal Beach, where you can find adventurous activities like snorkeling and paddleboarding, and Atlantic Dunes Park, where you can experience a quieter, more relaxing setting. You will also want to take the time to visit the Wakodahatchee Wetlands and Morikami Museum and Japanese gardens while you are here! After a day in the sun, head down to Atlantic Avenue for shopping, restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife scene.
